The home was built as "a spacious cottage"  in 1913 and completely renovated in 2016.  It combines the charm of a century-old home with modern amenities like high-speed wi-fi, cable flat-screen TV, in-room refrigerators, and Keurig coffee makers.  The wraparound porch and rocking chairs provide an inviting break from your busy vacation day.  You can enjoy the native plant infused landscape and spot hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. Blended with the landscape are sculptures, and vine-towers that create ecosystems for hummingbirds, cardinals, monarch butterflies and more.

Each room has en-suite bathroom with shower, Keurig coffee maker, mini-refrigerator, flat-screen TV and a sitting area with fold-out table/desk. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the property.   The front porch, front dining room, and front living room are shared guest areas. All of the guest rooms in the original Autrey house require walking up a single flight of stairs, since they are located on the second floor.  Although we do have pets on premises, they do not normally roam loose near the guest rooms or common areas.   Upon request, we will introduce you to Bandit & Banshee - our young Shih Tzu's in training.

We serve American style breakfasts with a twist.   This includes traditional breakfast, like bacon, eggs, sausage and corned beef hash - or for our more adventurous eaters, we will make you some goat-milk/wine sauced grits with sausage meatballs.  We can also make pancakes or waffles. Please let us know your dietary preferences or food allergies and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Gulf Fritilary Butterfly Emerges

Watch A Butterfly Emerge

The Kapp and Kappy grounds have plenty of food, water and shelter for a variety of types of butterflies. You may see monarchs, queens, swallowtails, sulfurs, and more. Gulf Fritillary caterpillars and butterflies are usually superabundant.

Some times of the year - the side of the house on Verona Street becomes a butterfly chrysalis "nursery" for the Fritillaries since they have an affinity for the old-style siding on the house.

Polydamas Swallowtails frequent the back fence that is covered with Pipevine just for them.

“I was fortunate to be able to stay at Kapp and Kappy in the Verona Room and had a great time.. The house is quite comfortable in both the common areas and up in the room. Both Christi and Tom were very inviting and willing to chat or leave you alone. I would definitely look to stay here again if my travels bring me back through the area. Thanks again for having me at your wonderful B&B - M. Brocchi”
